Vacuum casting is used for materials that cannot be cut from or carved out of an original block of material, such as for example urethanes and rubbers. After carving an initial pattern, a silicone mold is made based on the original pattern, allowing for the desired material to be casted (poured into a pattern cavity to harden). This method allows for the prototyping of clear plastics and rubber parts. In terms of durability, a vacuum cast mold is good for approximately 10 to 15 pieces to be casted. This method of casting is can be a great option for clients as it can create multiple parts while reducing costs.

Additionally, MiamiPrototypes can also facilitate a secondary process such as electroplating and/or anodizing.
